Consultation

Forget Me Nots Genealogy offers a free consultation service to discuss the Clients requirements and preferred family line/s to be researched. We reserve the right to determine if the records are available or if the research falls within our area of expertise. In the event that we are unable to proceed with the project, we will inform the Client at this stage and advise on next steps.

Formal Agreement

Following the consultation, we will provide written confirmation of our confidence in continuing with the Clients project based on the information supplied and after initial database searches. We will then request the Clients signed formal agreement to commence research, a monetary deposit, and the Clients acceptance of our Terms & Conditions.

Payment

Once the Client confirms the commencement of the project, a 50% deposit of the package price is required before our research begins. An invoice will be sent including remittance details. Forget Me Nots Genealogy accepts payments via PayPal or bank transfer. Cheque payments are accepted on request. The remaining balance must be paid before printing and dispatching the Clients project on completion of research.

Bespoke research - For bespoke research an invoice will be sent to the Client, including remittance details. Payment in full, as outlined on the invoice, is required before our research begins.

Gift vouchers - gift vouchers supplied by Forget Me Nots Genealogy will be for a specified amount of money. They can be used as part payment towards higher priced packages should the Recipient wish to delve further into their family history.

Communication

At Forget Me Nots Genealogy we keep our Clients informed on the progress of our research every step of the way. Clients are encouraged to keep in contact throughout the process, even to share a little piece of information that will aid our research. Sometimes the tiniest of clues can result in the best break-through’s!

Right To Cancellation

As per The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, the Client has the right to cancel within 14 days from placing an order, provided Forget Me Nots Genealogy has not commenced production/research.

Forget Me Nots Genealogy can start the project if:

  • The Client has signed the formal agreement and acknowledges that they will lose the right to cancel the contract within the 14 day cancellation period. Forget Me Nots Genealogy and the Client will agree on the date of commencement during consultation.

This does not prevent the Client from exercising their right to cancel during the 14 day period however, if Forget Me Nots Genealogy commences research on the agreed date, the Client will be charged for such research conducted.

To cancel a project, notification must be given in writing via email to forgetmenotsgenealogy@gmail.com

The Client will be reimbursed in full within 14 days after notification has been received unless research has commenced as listed above.

Errors & Omissions

Despite our best efforts, occasional inaccuracies may occur. Please note that historical records may be missing, damaged, illegible or inaccurate and we cannot guarantee to find all of our Clients extended family. At Forget Me Nots Genealogy we do our utmost to verify all findings and provide information on all referenced sources. If you believe there is a mistake in any of our research, please contact us to rectify the issue as soon as possible.

Confidentiality

At Forget Me Nots Genealogy, we highly value the opportunity to research our clients family history and understand the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of their personal information. We assure our clients that any information they provide will be treated with the utmost respect and privacy. 

To ensure the security of our clients' family tree, our working copy is stored privately on Ancestry.com. Access to this digital copy is strictly limited to authorised individuals who have been invited by our clients. We have implemented measures to safeguard their data and prevent any unauthorised access. Rest assured that we will not disclose any information regarding our clients' family, business, or personal matters to any third parties without their explicit and prior consent. 

We understand the sensitivity of the information we handle and will always prioritise our clients' privacy. Furthermore, we will not publish the results of any research conducted on behalf of our clients, for which they have made payment, without obtaining their consent beforehand. We understand that the information we uncover is personal and belongs to our clients, and we will respect their decision on whether or not to share the findings.

Sensitive Information

Sensitive information, which may pertain to the Client, or Clients’ family, could encompass topics such as illegitimacy, adoption, bigamy, disabilities, mental health concerns, and criminal activities. During the consultation stage, our team will inform the Client about such matters and discuss the appropriate way to convey them. All findings will be shared, except for details concerning living individuals, as their privacy is safeguarded by the Data Protection Act. It is therefore the Client's responsibility to determine how they share any sensitive information with other family members.

Delivery

Every family history project is unique. Forget Me Nots Genealogy will discuss timescales and start dates during the consultation stage.

Family Package delivery is typically 9 weeks whereas Bespoke Research will vary depending on the scale of the project. If there are any delays in our research i.e access to physical archives or the delivery of a certificate, we will keep our Client informed.

Every project is sent first class using a signed-for delivery or electronically if suitable.
